Alignment of Conservation Economy and Open Source
There is a direct philosophical connection between the ideals of OS software development and that of a conservation economy.
Environment – OS software is about social and technical environments that are conducive to sharing and advanced development. It is through a collaborative environment that great strides in development are made. In Conservation Economy there is a stress on a healthy environment as a key to a successfully economy and society as a whole.
Economics – One of the main drivers of OS software is economic benefit. It is not the case that OS software advocates software developers to not get paid, but instead an alternative model to the proprietary giants of the past. Innovation through cooperation and payment through service based endeavors release the code from the hands of the economic giants and back into the hands of the community. The Conservation Economy argues that it is only through a healthy balance between economics and its partners environment and social equity that we as a society will be able to sustain for the long term benefit of our children.

[…] Thought I would take a few minutes tonight to brainstorm some topics I will be writing about in the near future. There is not any particular order but it does give an idea of some of the things I am working on currently. Looking forward to writing some of this up. […]
